Recovery codes
Your backup way in when you cannot reach your authenticator app.
When you enable 2FA we show you a set of one-time recovery codes. Each one can be used once, in place of an authenticator code, to sign in.
Storing them
- Write them down and keep them somewhere physically safe, or store them in a password manager.
- Do not keep them as a screenshot in your phone gallery, or in the same place as your password.
- Never send them to anyone. Cryolynx staff will never ask for them.
Using one
- Sign in with your email and password as usual.
- At the two-factor prompt, choose the option to sign in with a recovery code.
- Enter one unused code.
Once you are back in, restore proper 2FA on a device you control: disable 2FA, then
enable it again. That issues a fresh set of codes and
invalidates the old ones.
