Which documents are accepted
Government-issued photo ID, plus what makes a submission fail.
Verification needs a valid, government-issued photo identity document. In South Africa that is normally a smart ID card, a green barcoded ID book, or a passport. If you hold another nationality, use your passport.
Your document must be
- Currently valid and not expired
- The original — not a photocopy, not a scan, not a photo of a screen
- Fully in frame, with all four corners visible
- Sharp, in focus and readable, with no glare across the text or photo
- Unobstructed — no fingers over the details
Common reasons a submission fails
- The name on the account does not match the name on the document
- Blur, glare or a cropped edge
- An expired document
- A photo of a document displayed on another screen
- The face in the liveness check does not clearly match the document photo
