Flexible or fixed term
Access your coins any time, or commit them for a set period.
Flexible
No fixed term. Subscribe and redeem when you want. The rate is typically lower, and can change at any time.
Suits coins you might need at short notice, or a first try at Earn.
Fixed term
You commit for a set period — commonly 30, 60, 90 or 120 days, depending on the product. The advertised rate is typically higher, in exchange for giving up access.
Suits coins you are confident you will not need before the term ends.
A fixed-term position is committed for the full term. Do not lock up coins you may need —
for a trade, a withdrawal, or anything else. Early access is restricted and, where a product allows it at
all, normally costs you the accrued return.
Choosing
- Ask when you might need the coins, not what rate you would like.
- Compare the rates on the same product across terms — a longer lock is only worth it if the extra return justifies it.
- Compare the real rates, after tiering — see how Earn rates work.
- Splitting across terms keeps some of your balance reachable.
